If you do not want to accept the scholarship offer of a university to study in another college, then you must send a letter to that university to inform them that you are refusing their scholarship offer. When you write a letter of decline, you can use them. You must write about your future goals, why you are rejecting their offer, and joining that college in this format. Always keep in mind that you should write the decline letter formally and respectfully.

Letter to Decline scholarship offer because of a better college offer

Dear (Name of the person),

I am writing in response to the scholarship that you offered me at X university for my graduation course.

I want to let you know that I can’t be able to accept your offer as I want to join Z college for my studies because your college is not offering graduation in ‘Arts,’ but I want to pursue in ‘Arts’ only. It would be a pleasure to join your college, but it is not only a scholarship that can force me to join it.

My goals are clear to me, and also I can afford to pay the fees of college. I am sorry for rejecting this offer as I can see a better future in that college.

I can see a better opportunity for me, but it doesn’t mean that I am not thankful to you for your generosity. I will always remember your gratefulness and recommend your college to other students.

I request you to forward my scholarship to one of my friends who is a student at your college because she is financially unstable, and it will be a great help to her if we get some financial aid assistance. I hope you will consider my request and take it positively.

I want to inform you that I got a scholarship offer two days back at X University. But I am sorry that I am not interested in accepting that offer because I am discontinuing my studies at the University as I got a job offer.

I am writing this letter about the scholarship you offered for “x” University. I am so thankful for your kind interest in me, but I want to tell you that I cannot accept this scholarship because it belongs to the students who cannot be able to pay their University fees or are financially weak.

I have no need for this scholarship as I am able to pay the fees and also I got the scholarship on the basis of merit. I think it is my dignity to accept the merit scholarship despite the financial scholarship.

I cannot feel right in my place to avail the benefits of both the scholarships as the financial scholarship should be forwarded to any of the students in more need than me.

It is my advice to you that you should not give the scholarships on the basis of the lottery system because in this manner many students who are financially weak can not be able to avail themselves. There is very little possibility that it will be awarded to the one who needs it.

The essence of the scholarship is always lost if it goes to a person who is financially stable, and also there are few students who find it right to reject the scholarship if they do not need it.

 So, I request you to change your criteria to distribute the scholarships.

I will be honored to accept the scholarship which is given to me based on merit.

Letter to decline scholarship offer because of no need

I am thankful to you for showing interest in me for offering the scholarship offer at X University. I am sorry to inform you that I cannot accept your offer because I think other students need it more than me.

If I avail of this scholarship then I will get a concession in the University fees structure but I spoke to many other students who are financially weak and will be really happy if they get this. 

I want to tell you that I am financially sound and can pay the entire fees of the university without any scholarship and request you to forward this opportunity to any other needy student.

The student who is financially weak will definitely understand the importance of this scholarship, and also, it will look good in their hands. I get the scholarship only because it is on the basis of the lottery system otherwise, I do not deserve this.

Many families in the town cannot make their kids study in colleges because of the high fees that private institutions usually charge. 

This may happen many times when the scholarship goes to the students who really have no need for this but only a few students have this moral to reject it.

Students feel so proud and lucky to have this scholarship but I think you should only pick those students who actually want it. it means a lot to them. I have no regrets about not accepting this scholarship.
