A Speech on “What Adults Do Not Understand”

Every adult was once a child, but everything about their perspective, expressing emotions and behavior changes as they grow into an adult. For almost all of us, it does look like our childhood days have long passed as we grew up. As a child, we all used to wonder why do all the older ones behave a lot oddly. The world is changing in terms of technology and lifestyle, therefore, all of us change.

As a child or a teenager, everyone behaves in a way very hard for the elder people around, finding it hard to understand or adapt to them. Well, we children were so fearless and open to any kind of obstacle. For all those readers, who might be older now, let me tell you, you all are the luckiest one who is able to experience their childhood days again through your children, but this time it is you who is the one screaming behind them. There are a lot of points that an adult won’t understand now, some of which are:

Adults are less fearless and adventurous. A parent or an elder is always in a world of thinking, and they think so much to generate fear in themselves. They try their level best to generate this same fear in children too. Children have a tendency first to experience and then learn; as a parent, we know how it experiences and that is the reason we try to stop them or raise fear upon them for even the tiniest moves. It is like they forgot the fun behind self-experiencing something new. Children have a tendency to speak out about anything that comes to their minds without hesitation; lots of elders have a hard time doing so.

Adults have forgotten the fun of being messier. Maybe because of the professional and standard life that the world has offered to each of us, we make it a must that everything around us should be neat and tidy. Whatever it is, being in the midst of any kind of a beautiful mess is a contrasting pleasure.

Adults have less experience in the entertaining side of modern technology. They consider most of modern gadgets as a medium of communication or to pass on information. There is another side to it that only children and teenagers would understand; selfies, social media, series, and games. Life of an adult is so serious with lots of stress and tension; they don’t take a break to enjoy some time where they can make memories, with a group selfie of the best time they had or a fun, competitive game played with their kids or even watch a series or a movie with your family and a big bowl of popcorn.

Despite all this, we still live in a fast-moving world. Yes, it is true, life goes on; but why carry on without having fun? As an adult we should understand to be a child, sometimes even be a child, this could make life much easier.

A Speech on “Words we use that we have to explain to adults”

Apparently, Words these days used by the new generations are more of Abbreviations, actions figures, and less of actual words with proper meanings. It’s more of a habit due to laziness and easy texting. Nowadays communication is generally through mobile phones and emails, so, the mostly used mediums are chat boxes and video calls.

This new way of communication has grown so vast that people started to spell out words in short or with emojis (figures that express emotions or any action). This kind of language formation has also extended its wings into other industries like music and movies too.

Let me elaborate on it for you.

Usage of Abbreviations: Kids and teenagers nowadays are obsessed with communicative gadgets. And so they are even more addicted to texting all the time. While texting it makes it easier for them to type less and make things understandable to the one reading. For example, TTYL means “Talk to you later”, BAE, means “Beyond and After”, LOL, means “Laugh out Loud”, and many more. These kinds of languages appear like codes to our elders. Adults find it hard to accept and understand this messaging technique. One has to sit with them and give them a proper class on how these abbreviations work and when all can we use them.

Using Emojis: This technique is also used often while texting. They come along with words or just plain. Children use these emojis and other figures, as a simpler form of making the other person understand what we mean in terms of emotions, actions, or signs. Nowadays there are wide varieties of emojis, starting from facial expressions to sign board signs and more. Using these to an adult who has no idea what these are, will be like communicating with a ghost; because the message would not be properly received or understood.

It is not hard to teach an adult how to use emojis. With few trials, they can catch up quickly.

The language used in Rap or Hip-hop music: Rap or Hip-hop was a simple form of music back when it was introduced. It was created to let people know more about discrimination in some communities. No foul language or incomplete lines with abbreviations were used. However, see rap music these days are filled with abusive, violent, incomplete, and confusing words.

For young children, it is a source of bad influence. This music and its meanings are never understood much by an adult. All they would notice is how much damage it could cause to a child’s life. It is always good for an adult to have an open mind to hear these kinds of music and understand the real message behind it.

In conclusion, It is not a sin to try to understand these new forms of communicative techniques and music styles. It may help an adult to blend in well with this generation; even to get closer with their children.
