When you are offered a higher position in an organization and that too of being a board member, then, of course, nothing can be more delightful than that. But it may so happen that due to some reason, you have to turn down such a grand offer.
In such a situation, your decline letter should be as polite as possible, consisting of appropriate words. To help you with it, I have written quite an effective sample letter, referring to which you can easily frame yours.

I would have been very glad to accept this offer. However, I equally love the current work I’m committed to, and I would wish to focus on [insert the work relevant to the sender] to gain more experience rather than being a part of the board this soon.
Due to this reason, I feel extremely sorry to inform you that I will not be able to accept the board position.
Thank you once again for considering me for the Job Position. I earnestly appreciate the time and efforts you have taken for this consideration. I hope to be a part of this in the future and that you find a much more able candidate to match this position.
