A Speech on Decline of Interpersonal Communication Due to Technology

This decline of interpersonal communication due to technology may be seems simple to us but it has rooted very deep than we have think. Any form of technological advancement is always considered as a progress in our society. With smart phones, laptops, tablets, smart watches and wireless devices, now day’s technology is the one and only dependable source for us to being connected with others and the whole world.

It is a good option for contacting us true indeed but sadly and slowly this advanced technology is actually destroying our interpersonal communications and ruining our bonds with the society and the special people we value. The face-to-face conversation is marginalizing by the social media interaction.

An average teenager girl or boy sends three thousand text messages per month and this data was collected few years ago.

These days’ smart phones became our best friend and their demand on Market is on another level, with their access to social media like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

Psychiatry studies told us the reason behind this addictive behavior of checking our phones again and again; some studies claimed that the technique of scrolling on our mobile phones and tabs, the lighting of those displays of these gadgets plays with our mind continuously and get us addicted to the gadget, and it is the reason why we tend to check our phones every now and then even if there are no messages, still we think that there is, actually it is not that we are expecting messages and thing but it becomes our habit which is a dangerous one.

As a result, at the time of having a nice dinner with our family or friends we tend to check or scroll our phones even if not us, someone else or one of the person sitting there is busy checking on his or her phone or tablet rather than engaging with others in a good conversation.

More or less every one of us noticed that and did it also. When we are at a fine dine restaurant or at a fine eatery, we tend to take pictures of the food with variant filters, take selfies with the fancy dish and adjust color schemes and edit them to make the food on pictures look delicious, taking it from the right angle is our only focus at that time and finally posting it on instagram is the next step after all these tasks we finally return to the meal to eat it but it is already became cold then.

And these days our vacations are all about posting pictures on twitter or Instagram instead of enjoying it truly and knowing the place with your family or friends or with the nearest ones. Our holidays became a way for us to make other people envious by uploading selfies and groupies on social Media rather than enjoy sunset quality.

It is true, that advancements of the technology have helped us a lot in globalization of things like economy and information;  technology actually have brought the world closer than ever it was and made collecting information easy but interpersonal communications are totally hampered by it.
