I am an employee in your company working in the Sales Department. I am writing this letter to enquire and get explanation regarding the unusual tax deduction in last month’s salary which came into my notice today when I received the payslip. I noticed that an extra tax has been levied upon me on the food coupons that are entitled as per the perks and benefits of the company. The food coupons are not taxable if you redeem them in the form of physical coupons.
Every month I follow the same practice and there is no tax levied on this month. I have checked in the HRMS portal and I don’t find any policy change rules regarding this matter. As per my knowledge, the food coupon encashment is entitled for tax if you collect the amount in the form of addition to salary but to reduce tax, I have been issuing the physical ones since joining the company.
This issue has led to deduction of a hefty amount from my salary. Additionally I found that you have cut more taxes for my vehicle allowance than the usual amount. I would require an explanation for the same as well.
As far as I know the HR policies of the company, I believe this is a technical issue at your end. It would be kind enough if you send me a clarification within one or two business days. I am waiting for your action.
